Epic Clinical Informatics Fellowship PROGRAM:
Case Western Reserve University's MetroHealth System is pleased to offer a 1-2 year clinical informatics fellowship.  This fellowship is open to medical professionals (physicians, physician assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners, and pharmacists) who have or will have completed their clinical training prior to starting the fellowship.

The fellowship is designed to provide medical professionals with clinical informatics training and experience to complement their clinical training. 

This fellowship is intended to prepare practicing medical professionals for careers in clinical informatics where they would continue their clinical work along with non-clinical roles in administering, developing, implementing, and using health information technology systems.

This fellowship program is sponsored in cooperation with and support of Epic Systems Corporation (Madison WI).

GOALS: 
  1.        To participate in formal training in clinical informatics through scheduled didactic sessions at the MetroHealth System, at Epic, and/or, if desired, through completion of the American Medical Informatics Association's (AMIA's) 10X10 medical informatics certificate program or limited course work through Case Western Reserve University.
  2.        To obtain exposure to and experience with Epic and other clinical information systems within the MetroHealth System
  3.        To experience and understand the integration of Epic and other clinical information systems within a large healthcare delivery network.
  4.        To complete a clinical informatics project related to the Epic systems installed within the MetroHealth System.
  5.        To continue part-time clinical practice within the MetroHealth System.    
DETAILS:
This fellowship is a project oriented fellowship.  Fellowship time will be spent between clinical care (20%), didactic and apprenticeship clinical informatics activities (30%), and a clinical informatics project(s) (50%).  The fellowship project should be a clinical informatics project that will result in scholarly output that should be appropriate for publication and presentation in various peer review venues, such as American Medical Informatics Association meetings and the Journal of Biomedical Informatics.
