Psychiatric Nursing
Inpatient Psychiatry serves male and female patients from the age of 18 years and older are admitted to the unit for the diagnosis and treatment of any and all types of major mental disorders.
Persons requiring concurrent treatment of medical/surgical health problems may be admitted to the unit after medical stabilization. The inpatient unit admits voluntary patients, probated patients and patients detained by emergency certificates. At any given time the patient population is a culturally diverse blend of ages, sexes, religions socioeconomic groups, cultures and various major mental disorders.
Family involvement is considered an important part of the patient’s recovery process. Families are encouraged to participate in the plan of care if requested by their family member.
Inpatient Psychiatry is a 20-bed locked unit housed in the towers building. Our focus is to provide a facility for the evaluation, acute care and diagnosis of patients with a psychiatric illness or psychiatric complications of a medical illness.
We provide a multidisciplinary treatment approach to patient care. Individual and group counseling is available for patients.
We believe that patients are active participants in their own care and it is our responsibility to assist patients in their recovery process. To help with recovery, we provide a milieu that is violence and coercion free. We help patients develop a wellness recovery action plan, “WRAP”
