Acute Care-Internal Medicine-10C
10C is a 24-bed unit that provides specialized care to patients admitted with acute and chronic medical conditions. The staff on this floor is innovative and constantly piloting and initiating new programs to improve patient care. Areas of specialty include comprehensive teaching on CHF (congestive heart failure) as a part of the "Get With The Guidelines Program", nursing staff are collaborating with the CICU/Tele nursing staff to move this program to the inpatient care areas. As part of our Geriatric Resource Nurse Program, 10C in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team are identifying patients with delirium and implementing strategies to reduce/eliminate delirium during hospitalization in this patient population. As part of a nursing/physician research collaborative, 10C staff is looking at the ability to maintain diabetic patient’s blood glucose (sugar) levels by controlling carbohydrate intake as well as insulin coverage. Additional areas of specialty include caring for patients with asthma, kidney or renal disease, and hypertension.
A team approach is utilized in caring for every patient. The unit based physicians, nurses, respiratory therapist, dietician, case manager, social worker, physical and occupational therapist all work closely together daily to provide optimal care to our patients.
