Radiology Vascular and Interventional Radiology (VIR)

Outpatient appointments can be made by calling the Main Radiology Department at (216) 778-3456 or by calling the Radiology Interventional Clinic at (216) 778-3533 for additional information.

Interventional Radiology is a medical specialty that uses image-guided, minimally invasive techniques that are often an alternative to conventional surgery. Interventional Radiologists are highly trained in imaging, radiation safety, patient management, and the performance of procedures. Interventional Radiologists diagnose and treat a wide variety of conditions by using small catheters (tubes) or other devices guided by x-ray, ultrasound, or computed tomography imaging. Procedures performed by Interventional Radiologists are generally less costly and less traumatic to the patient than surgery, and involve smaller incisions, shorter (or no) hospital stays, and less pain.

The Interventional Radiologists at MetroHealth Medical Center have been identified as leaders in vascular diagnosis and therapy, specializing in endovascular (non-surgical) interventions such as angioplasty, stent placement, embolization, and related procedures. Many nonvascular interventions are performed as well. All of our Interventional Radiologists are board-certified physicians, with added subspecialty certification. Each of our Interventional Radiologists has one or more areas of special interest and expertise which include fibroid embolization, non-surgical aneurysm repair, angioplasty and stent placement, liver disease/tumors, hypertension, peripheral vascular disease, pain management, and vertebroplasty procedures.

We specialize in epidural injections, nerve blocks/disc ablations, varicose vein treatment,  vertebroplasty and much more.
