18 month PM&R Resident Didactic Cycle

General Guidelines:  (18-month cycle starting July 2009 through December 2010)
A three-hour slot for major didactics, Thursday   9:00 am - Noon.  Speakers should aim for 45 minutes of content per session to allow time for questions and a 5-10 minute break between sessions.

  • More informal/interactive sessions during a noon hour will be usually on Mondays or Tuesdays
  • Grand Rounds - Two per month - Mondays at Noon, R170
  • M&M Conference - One per month
  • Journal Club - 1/month (article topic related to module)
  • EMG/MSK case review - 1/month
  • Chair/Psychology Professor Rounds - 1/ month
  • One Topic Presentation for PG2& PG3 per year - A "basic" topic incorporating a high degree of anatomy/physiology is desirable. Topic presentations may be noon hour or Thursday AM.  Resident to confer with the director of didactic module (for the assigned month) to finalize topic and for guidance.
  • One PM&R Grand Rounds presentation for each PG4 (can be on research project or other topic of interest)
  • SAE Review, or other testing, one hour per topic area is an option at end of  each didactic series

Added sessions based on resident's request:

  • Open Agenda with the Program Director  - chaired by the chief resident - Quarterly  - held off site.
  • Billing and Coding - Once every two months - Last Thursday of the month at 12:15 PM
  • End of Module Exams - Thursday at noon.  Held by director of didactic module
  • Didactic Evaluations - must be completed by the residents (and other attendees) at the end of each lecture
  • 12 month Anatomy cycle consisting of one hour interactive anatomy session scheduled twice a month on Thursdays at Noon.
