A Guide to Your Stay at MetroHealth For Your Safety

Smoking

The MetroHealth System is proud to be smoke-free. In an effort to promote a healthy environment for our patients and employees, smoking is not permitted at any MetroHealth location or adjacent properties, including parking facilities. For information about MetroHealth's Smoking Cessation Program, call 216-778-1221 or find information online.

Fire Safety

MetroHealth Medical Center is equipped with fire safety systems, which are tested on a regular basis. Our employees are trained and regularly tested in fire safety. If you hear a fire alarm, stay calm, and stay in your room. It may be either a fire drill or fire systems test. If there is a fire, the nurse will help you to safety.

Valuables

Items of value, such as money, jewelry, and credit cards, should be left at home. If you choose to bring items of value to the hospital, please tell your nurse so the valuables can be inventoried and secured in the safe. Valuables or items that you bring to the hospital are your responsibility, unless they are secured in the safe.

If you wear glasses or dentures or use a wheelchair, you are encouraged to have your family take these items home, unless you will need them after surgery or during your hospital stay. For identification, you should label these items.

Falls Prevention Program

Your safety is a concern to us. Please use your call light and wait for assistance as instructed by your nurse/caregiver. It is important that you follow the guidance from your nurse/caregiver so that we can prevent a fall from occurring.
