A Guide to Your Stay at MetroHealth Your Room and Meals

Calling Your Nurse

The nursing staff wants to make you as comfortable as possible during your stay. If you need help or wish to talk with your nurse, please use the nurse call system at your bedside. Your nurse will gladly show you how to use it. Special devices can be provided if you are not able to use the nurse call system. The names of your nurse and care team members can be found in your room.

Meal Selection

We invite you to select your meals from a menu of several appealing choices. You will receive a menu for the next day’s breakfast, lunch, and dinner. If you are on a special diet, a nutritionist will help you select foods to suit your tastes. If you will miss a meal because of tests or therapy, your nurse will arrange for you to receive your meal upon your return.

Telephones

All of our patient rooms, except for intensive care units, are equipped with telephones. To make an outside local call, dial 9, wait for the dial tone, and dial the number. You can give your telephone number to family and friends, who can dial your room directly. To ensure your rest, incoming calls will not be put through after 9 p.m. or before 8 a.m.

To make a long-distance call, dial 9 + 0 + area code + telephone number. A long-distance operator will assist you with a credit card call, a collect call, or a call billed to your home phone account. If you have a problem with your phone, tell your nurse.

Cell Phone Usage

The use of cell phones is not permitted in patient care areas of the medical center. Cell phones are allowed in public areas. Please observe posted signs.

Radio and Television

Radio and television are free. In addition to local network broadcasts, we offer more than 60 TV channels with diverse programming. Radio broadcasts can also be heard at your bedside. Bedside controls operate the TV and radio. Ask your nurse for a TV channel list.

Mail

Mail is delivered to your room each day. If you wish to send mail, give it to your nurse, and it will be included in the day’s outgoing mail. Your return address is:
