CTSC Clinical Research Unit at MetroHealth
Core Laboratory
The Core Laboratory provides clinical research training for investigators, fellows, students, and technicians and acts as a resource to meet the analytical needs of clinical investigators. It is a CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment) certified facility. In general, routine tests that are available in the hospital's clinical laboratory are not performed in the core laboratory, but rather supported through ancillary funds.
Analyses of the following metabolites are available in the core laboratory:
- C-Peptide
- Estradiol
- Glucose (STAT)
- Human choriionic Gonadotropin (qualitative)
- Progesterone
- Insulin-like Growth Factor
- Insulin
- Lactate (STAT)
- Leptin
- Tumor Necrosis Factor*-*
The CTSA-CRU Core Lab at MHMC is a part of the larger CTSA-CRU Core Lab consortium including The Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals, as well as other CTSA-CRU core labs around the country, meeting the analytical needs of protocols. Additional laboratory support is provided to approved protocols including processing and storage of samples for eventual shipment to other laboratories.
