The Family Medicine Center is located on the ground floor of the medical center and is convenient to the Emergency Department, laboratory, x-ray, and inpatient areas. The Family MedicineCenter provides 12 exam rooms, a treatment room, a family counseling room, and office lab, two conference rooms, and faculty offices.

The Family Medicine Center provides a range of primary care services to a diverse patient population. Services include a well-run ambulatory care clinic, which provides preventive and acute care and which emphasizes continuity; an inpatient service which extends the comprehensive bio-psychosocial approach to hospitalized patients; a special outpatient initiative targeting the well elderly; and occupational medicine consultation. Family Medicine has a network of affiliations with community health centers and public health programs in order to incorporate a broader social perspective into our training.

The Department of Family Medicine provides support for faculty and resident research through its Research Division, and supports excellence in teaching through the faculty development programs of the Education Division.
