About the Division
The Division of Infectious Diseases at MetroHealth strives to provide outstanding care for adults with illnesses resulting from infections. Specialized programs provide additional services for:
- Home antibiotic infusion therapy
- Travel-related infections
- Sexually transmitted diseases
MetroHealth maintains a satellite unit of the national, multi-center Adult AIDS Clinical Trial Group, providing the opportunity for persons living with HIV to participate clinical trials.
Fellowship training in Infectious Diseases at MetroHealth is offered in partnership with University Hospitals of Cleveland and the Cleveland Wade Park Louis Stokes Veterans Administration Hospital (www.cwru-id.org). In addition to broad clinical exposure, the fellowship offers diverse research and training opportunities including opportunities for training in epidemiology & biostatistics.
The Adult Division of Infectious Diseases specializes in the clinical management of infectious illnesses in adults including, but not limited to, bone and joint infections, primary immune deficiencies and HIV-disease. Comprehensive infusion therapies are offered in the outpatient clinic and we coordinate outpatient home intravenous antibiotic therapy.
Our travel clinic provides health information, prevention and treatment for infections that are associated with travel to foreign countries.
HIV-care involves a comprehensive team with broad expertise and experience in HIV-disease management consisting of physicians, social work case managers, registered nurses, and registered pharmacists. Indigent care services and medication assistance are provided through the Ryan White Title I Emergency Assistance Program.
