OBJECTIVE: To provide an advanced opportunity for acquiring skills and training in the care of injured patients.

STUDENTS: Maximum: 1 visiting medical student for each rotation
REQUIRED: Completion of core clerkships in Medicine and Surgery
DESCRIPTION: This opportunity is directed toward students who are interested in pursuing advanced training in the care of injured children and adults. The student will be given greater responsibility than that of a junior clerkship student to prepare them ultimately for a surgical career. This subinternship emphasizes active enrollment in the case of a large number of patients on a busy trauma service, and is structured to provide development of clinical judgment and technical skills under direct supervision.
