Preliminary One-Year Program
The one-year program is designed to provide residents with an extensive exposure to internal medicine prior to entering subspecialty programs requiring one year of internal medicine exposure. The PGY-I year consists of approximately 7 months on various inpatient medical services, and roughly 5 ambulatory months and elective time selected by the resident from medicine subspecialties, emergency department, or non-medical services.
