Department of Medicine Preliminary One-Year Program

 

Preliminary One-Year Program

The one-year program is designed to provide residents with an extensive exposure to internal medicine prior to entering subspecialty programs requiring one year of internal medicine exposure. The PGY-I year consists of approximately 7 months on various inpatient medical services, and roughly 5 ambulatory months and elective time selected by the resident from medicine subspecialties, emergency department, or non-medical services.

 General Medicine Wards including cardiac Telemetry unit and step-down unit

 Electives/Research  3-3.5
 Inpatient Oncology  0-0.5
 Vacation  1

*Electives are chosen from medicine subspecialties, radiology, anethesia, Emergency Department, ICU, and other non-medical specialties.
