OBJECTIVE: To provide an internship experience in clinical pediatrics with the emphasis on the diagnosis, management, and care of children with acute and chronic diseases.

STUDENTS: Maximum: 1 visiting medical student for each rotation
REQUIRED: Completion of all core clerkships
DESCRIPTION: The student will function as an intern member of the resident team, and will be responsible for the care of patients on the pediatric inpatient service. The student will be first to work up patients, plan their diagnostic evaluations, write orders, perform procedures, write progress notes, provide treatment, and communicate with the families. He/she may request consultations, and is expected to use the library. The student will present patients on rounds and in conferences.
NOTE: Prior arrangement with the sponsor is necessary after initial contact with the Residency Support Office
DUTIES: The student will assume the responsibilities expected of a pediatric intern, including every fourth night and weekend call schedule.
