Metro Life Flight Extends Contract, Continues to Serve Lorain County
Metro Life Flight has extended its contract with Lorain County Regional Airport, ensuring its presence in Lorain County through 2017, with options running through 2019.
Metro Life Flight, MetroHealth’s critical care transport program, has been a tenant of Lorain County Regional Airport since 2009. By basing at Lorain County Regional Airport, Metro Life Flight is able to provide elite care at local accident scenes and optimal transport times to area hospitals. In the event of trauma, Lorain County residents are most commonly flown to MetroHealth Medical Center, home to the area’s only Level I Adult Trauma Center.
“By basing one of our crews and helicopters at Lorain County Regional Airport, the residents of Lorain County can be assured that if they or a loved one require critical care transport, the response time, medical expertise and compassion will continue to be unmatched,” said Metro Life Flight Program Director Brian Carr.
Metro Life Flight keeps an Airbus EC-145 helicopter in Lorain County, often visible from Elyria’s Russia Road, staffed 24/7 by two pilots and two medical crew members.
