MetroHealth Creates “Enrollment on Wheels” to Help Community Sign Up for Healthcare Coverage

Wednesday, March 19, 2014 - MetroHealth Creates “Enrollment on Wheels” to Help Community Sign Up for Healthcare Coverage

(Cleveland) – MetroHealth is launching an Enrollment Outreach RV to help Cuyahoga County residents sign up for health care coverage. The 38-foot vehicle will travel to various locations around the county throughout the year, starting on March 21, 2014.

The RV is equipped with multiple work stations and will be staffed by financial representatives certified by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. These certified application counselors (CACs) will help people learn about the options available through the health insurance marketplace on www.healthcare.gov. Assistance with enrolling in Medicare, Medicaid and other programs will also be available.

Assistance will be provided in a private, comfortable environment. Individuals have the opportunity to have a future appointment scheduled at MetroHealth before leaving.

“Navigating the health insurance enrollment process can be very complex and confusing,” said Craig Richmond, Chief Financial Officer of MetroHealth. “‘Enrollment on Wheels’ is designed to reach our residents in their local communities to educate and assist them in applying for coverage into the appropriate health care programs.”

Akram Boutros, MD, President and CEO of MetroHealth said, “Our goal is to help our patients manage and meet their health care needs, and ‘Enrollment on Wheels’ enhances MetroHealth’s ability to connect with the citizens of Cuyahoga County.”

"All Cuyahoga County residents should be able to access quality, affordable health care coverage," said Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald. "I applaud MetroHealth for the successful launch of the “Enrollment on Wheels” program and look forward to continuing our collaborative efforts to expand health care access in Cuyahoga County."

“This is an opportunity for Clevelanders to get quality health care and MetroHealth’s effort is a good way to increase the ability for people to get covered,” said Cleveland Mayor Frank G. Jackson.
